$114,058 raised by Milton Public School!
School Fun Run hits a 33-year high last year. That’s because we were founded in 1987 with a single goal of helping a school raise over $100,000; mission accomplished!
I am sure I don’t need to tell you this but getting something great going last year proved a challenge to say the least! Not that we need examples but spare a thought for Milton Public School. Three hours under Sydney, the Milton community lost over 100 homes in the 2019/2020 NSW Bushfires. Then, like all of us, had to deal with COVID-19. It devastated local tourism, which is a huge part of their coastal economy.
Amongst all that hardship their Deputy Principal (Scott) asked if we could help him boost student wellbeing with some feel-good fundraising. The kids had the best day ever at their School Fun Run and the school raised $114,058.69 in 4 weeks.
What made that outcome so incredible, other than the obvious, was that (1) Lindfield Public School was well on the way to cracking a six figure School Fun Run when COVID-19 hit hard in March 2020. They finished on $91,858 as the country started coming to terms with the virus.
We thought our chances of seeing a $100,000+ School Fun Run were dashed at that stage. In fact, we thought the whole School Fun Run concept might be dashed at that point. But like the rest of the country and the Milton community we soldiered on… and then the magic started to happen.
What we saw was captivating. Community started supporting schools like NEVER before. Across the board, our averages per event rocketed up over 40% and multiple schools started to regularly raising over $50,000.
Then, in August, it happened! Milton Public School landed the first ever School Fun Run to raise over $100,000 in a single event. In fact, they didn’t just crack that ceiling – they smashed it. The founding idea for School Fun Run (Est 1987) was to help a school raise over $100,000 and 33 years later we did it!
THANK YOU MILTON PUBLIC SCHOOL 😊
