Avalon Public School

“Our school pretty much had one fundraising activity every two years to raise funds for the school, and that was the fate. We did it every two years because it took so much effort from the entire school and the community. It was such a big event that it wasn't sustainable every year, so we wanted to look for options to fill in as an alternative to doing a fate.

The criteria was really simple, it needed to be easy to activate, engaging for the children and engaging for the families. We found that the School Fun Run seemed to tick all those boxes.

It was amazing how little effort was required from the school, and the school members, the PNC members, and the parents. Literally with a small team of two or three people we were able to get the plan off the ground from start to finish, which was amazing.

The boxes were ticked in relation to the kids being engaged, because the prizes that were available to incentivise them to raise money were fantastic. The kids loved it, it was very evident they loved them (the student prizes) because they went out there and they raised their little arms and legs off.

In terms of fundraising, the school was actually able to make out of the event over $90,000. We had a slightly less target than ninety thousand dollars, we were only around $50,000, so we've certainly exceeded expectations.

We were getting a little worried a few weeks into it, we were only sitting at around $25,500. So, we called the School Fun Run and they provided us with a Fundraising Coach and gave us a pretty cool plan to actually try and engage our community and our students. We activated that plan and lo and behold, a few weeks later, we were up around ninety thousand dollars. So, it was fantastic.

We were really impressed with the resources that were provided to the school for the fun run. Their online platform was fantastic, it had all the tutorials that we needed, it had all the information that we needed, it was a simple interface between us and the School Fun Run, us and the children, the children and those who are donating. So, it was a very seamless platform. But then also the post administration. The responsibility of them (students) claiming prizes, collecting all those funds, it was just from ‘whoa to go’ we didn't have any hiccups at all along the way.

So, it was fantastic, Avalon had significant success with the School Fun Run. It was extremely easy to to get up and running.

It delivered results far outweighing any fundraising event we had ever done within the school.

Every step of the way, every one of the guys (at School Fun Run) were there to support us.

So, I've actually been quite a big advocate of recommending the School Fun Run to other schools in the vicinity because they certainly help you reach your school’s fundraising goal, which in turn helps the students because we were able to give them all those extra resources that they need.

So, everyone wins.”
